Travel tip: castello di Serravalle in Bosa
One of the main reasons of going to castello di Serravalle, is the amazing view of Bosa. If you are visiting Bosa, you must see the panoramic view of the town. Standing behind the original, fortified walls and towers you can clearly see the river Temo, wonderful mountains, blue sea, and colorful streets of Bosa.
Castello di Serravalle is located nearby the old town of Bosa, on top of the hill of Serravalle. It was built in 1112 AD by the Tuscan Malaspina family, who settled on the island in the eleventh century. The story goes that the jealous Marquis Malaspina made an underground tunnel, connecting the castle to the city, just to prevent his beautiful wife from showing herself to the citizens of Bosa. But nowadays there is still no hard evidence of the underground tunnel, just the legend that is keeping it alive.
For visiting the castle buying tickets is required. With a single ticket you can visit the castle, the church, and the Palatine Chapel. It is also possible to book a guided tour in different languages, namely English, Spanish, Russian, French, German and Italian.
